What is the difference between the RR and RS Series doors?
Products

The RR Series (Rapid Roll) is designed for high-cycle internal openings where speed and throughput are the priority. The RS Series (Zipper Self Repair) adds a self-recovery mechanism — if the curtain is struck by a vehicle or forklift, it automatically re-inserts into the guide rails without manual intervention. The RS Series is the better choice for facilities with frequent forklift traffic.

Which door is suitable for external openings?
Products

The SP Series (Spiral Rigid) is purpose-built for external openings. Its rigid aluminium slat construction provides wind resistance, structural performance, and security that fabric doors cannot match in exposed environments. For loading bays specifically, the DK Series is the recommended solution.

Can dock doors be integrated with loading bay equipment?
Products

Yes. The DK Series is designed with dock integration in mind. Our systems can be configured to interlock with dock levellers, vehicle restraints, and traffic light systems to create a safe, sequenced loading bay workflow. Integration requirements are confirmed during the specification stage.

How long does a standard installation take?
Installation

Most single-door installations are completed within one day. For dock door systems or multi-door projects, installation typically takes two to three days depending on site conditions and the scope of the project. Our engineers will provide a detailed installation schedule at the time of order confirmation.

Do you supply custom sizes or non-standard openings?
Installation

All KINVAR doors are manufactured to the exact dimensions of your opening. We do not supply off-the-shelf fixed sizes. A site survey is conducted prior to manufacturing to confirm opening dimensions, headroom, reveal depth, and any structural considerations.

Are installations compliant with current safety regulations?
Installation

Yes. All KINVAR installations are carried out in accordance with EN 13241 (industrial, commercial and garage doors) and current workplace safety directives. All systems are CE marked where applicable and supplied with full documentation for your safety file.

How often do KINVAR doors need to be serviced?
Maintenance

We recommend a minimum of one planned preventive maintenance visit per year for standard usage environments. High-cycle applications — such as cold stores or busy logistics hubs — may require bi-annual servicing. Our maintenance contracts are tailored to your operating cycle and door type.

What is the typical response time for breakdown callouts?
Maintenance

For customers on a service contract, we target a four-hour response time during business hours. Emergency out-of-hours cover is available for critical operations. Response times for non-contract customers vary based on engineer availability and location.

What are the typical lead times from order to installation?
Ordering

Standard lead times are four to six weeks from order confirmation to installation, subject to survey completion and manufacturing schedule. Expedited lead times may be available for urgent projects — speak to our team at the enquiry stage.

Do you provide quotations before a site survey?
Ordering

We can provide a budgetary estimate based on approximate dimensions and product type. A firm quotation is issued following a site survey which confirms the exact scope of work, structural requirements, and any access considerations that may affect the installation cost.
